The Terrorists are Winning
We are a nation afraid of our own shadows.
This morning my local paper had as its lead article, a story about a piece of trash.
Seems someone decided that they didn't want a broken piece of luggage, so they threw it away. The trash can was full though, so they just set it next to the trash can.
But, the trash can just happened to be across the street where Ahmed Ressam entered the US from Canada with a trunk full of explosives with the intent to blow up LAX.
So, when someone saw the trash, they called the cops who called the bomb squad who found out that it was an empty piece of trash.
*sigh*
Watch what you throw away and where. You might frighten someone.

Two more reasons I think the terrorists are winning:
My local Sunday paper has a section in which they ask people a question and then report the answers they give. This Sunday's question was "Five years after 9/11, how fearful are you of another terrorist attack on U.S. soil?"
Responses such as "very fearful," and "expectant" were alongside a statement saying that 9/11 was an inside job by our government. It's pasrt of an elaborate plan by world bankers and the golbal elite to scare us into global war." Other people did think that it won't happen again or not on our soil or not that that extent.
Secondly, Blabbermouth reported today:
The Register reports that keen security personnel at England's Birmingham International Airport ordered a man to turn his t-shirt inside out because it bore a drawing of two crossed guns.
Staffordshire design engineer Dave Osbourne was wearing a Guns N Rollers t-shirt (see photo of t-shirt at this location).
Guns N Rollers are a team in "an all-female roller derby league located in Portland Oregon", according to their website. Their logo is a tribute to that of hard rocking, hard drinking, legendarily fractious L.A. band GUNS N' ROSES.
As he waited to board the flight to Newark, New Jersey, guards told Osbourne the graphic represented a security risk, and could upset other passengers.
The 21-year-old said: "I am all for extra security, but this was just plain stupid."
Bosses at the airport apologised, admitting guards "over-reacted".
*sigh* At least the gaurds' bosses apologised.
But, these things show me the terrorists have got us freaked out and acting like foolish frightened children.
