Maybe they were lies. I don't know. I'm reading a court transcript right now that begins with;

"Mr. Chairman, Senator Thurmond, members of the committee, my
name is Anita F. Hill, and I am a professor of law at the University of
Oklahoma."

I'm aware of what she said. She gave it to the FBI first. They could find no validity to it whatsoever.
