LOL! Funny, Bro, because as I was opening the thread I figured I would post that I am listening to my freshly started wood fire!

So, I open my browser to my local news, and find this:

BOSTON (WBZ) ― It may seem early, but two Boston radio stations are already kicking off the Christmas tunes.

WROR (105.7 FM) and WODS (103.3 FM) started playing Christmas songs around the clock on Thursday, and will continue to play them through Christmas Day.

"We received such an overwhelmingly positive response from our listeners in 2007 when we went all Christmas that we decided to bring it back again for 2008," said WROR Program Dir. Kevin West.

In addition to Christmas songs, from 5 p.m. ? 7p.m. Monday through Friday, kids can call into WROR and talk to Santa Claus. (Here's the number: 617.931.1057.)

Both stations started playing Christmas songs earlier than usual this year. Last year, both stations started their holiday songs on November 12.

This is the second year WROR has played all Christmas songs, all the time. WODS started the tradition six years ago.

Two months? One-sixth of the year? Ugh!

*wonders what happened to Thanksgiving and hopes they at least play A Twisted Christmas in the mix*

Now see- I agree 100%. The first year the oldies station did it, they started the Friday before Thanksgiving. Perfect! I get to sit around after football and eating and eating Tums like Tictacs and put Christmas music on (and then get up Friday and do the same!)

Too early folks for the Xmas music, really.

Obviously there are people who want this, as they had great response, but...well.......I would be okay with this is I thought it was more than just commercialization.

That, and the playlists will be small considering how few Christmas songs we have (same song, diff arrangement....oy) that I would feel zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

A couple of redneck's trucks outside as they stop to shoot the breeze in the middle of the road.

The oldies station has a workaround for this.

They have three playlists 6 weeks out- 4 weeks out- and 2 weeks out.

The 6 weeks out playlist will have you poking your eardrums with an awl because it so small. Two weeks later, they add more songs to the playlist, and then two weeks before Christmas, they throw their whole Christmas library on the air.

You need Valley of the damned ( not just the song the album) The album I have has a lot less prettied up a mix than another version I'd heard, much more raw and awesome. Not to take away from their other albums as they all rock, but Valley is my favourite song at very least.
