We did play four Beatles songs in a row at that show. But not that one.

But not before shooting a bunch of video tonight. 8)

Elf - What big body guitar is that...Ibanez?

Retrofitting that single coil pickup in the neck position was slick. :headbang:

Is that an aftermarket pickup bracket or did you make it yourself?

Doesn't matter. It's cool and it works. :)

Nice video montage. Kudos to the videographer too. Well done.

Thanks for sharing that with us.

Thanks for the kind words. The guitar is a cheap Chinese-made ES-335 copy (pic below). I chronicle the whole process of the purchase and the numerous mods made here:

I'm really enjoying the heck out of it. That Carvin single coil is my favorite neck pickup and it soulds SO sweet in a semi-hollow guitar.

For the video we set up two cameras on tripods and then my wife roamed around with a third camera. Our bass player did all the video editing and we thought the video would be a lot more interesting if he had multiple camera angles to work with. In the end there are parts I like and parts that make me cringe. :)

Just read your Carvin forum posts. Good stuff there.

Your guitar reminds me of a Johnson electric guitar a friend bought.

It's a LP copy that is actually beefier than a Epi - both physically and sonically.

Hey - if it stays in tune, feels good and sounds good - PLAY IT. :headbang:

BTW - Ry Cooder played and recorded w/ no-name guitars frequently.

(Many folks don't know that.)

Rock on, Elf.

It took some work to get it to where it was gig worthy. But now that it's there, man it's sweet! I'm still not crazy about the big '59 style neck, but it's not enough to put me off the guitar. As that video was being shot the neck profile was the last thing on my mind. I was just playing, you know?

It looks comfortable to play for a big-body.

Like you said, the old-school neck might be a setback - but you learn to
adapt, right?

That's why you're THE MAN.

Keep rockin' Elf.
