Post by Me »

Very worth while cause!!!

It was announced this morning that it's coming to philadelphia 2 July 05 pretty fast to throw such a huge event together. You can google WMMR and they have streaming music, updates etc. A short list of some bands playing...
U2, Cold Play, Bon Jovi, Crosby Stills and Nash, Velvet Revolver, Dave Mathews,
REM, Sting, Duran Duran, Elton John and soooo many more this is huge and for a huge cause.

Live 8 Details to be Announced Tuesday

Listen Tuesday morning (5/31) during the Preston & Steve show as WMMR brings you details of Live 8 - to be held in Philadelphia and London on July 2nd. The concert is being dubbed Live 8 as a nod to the G8 Summit, which will be held in Scotland beginning July 6th. 20 years ago, WMMR was part of Live Aid, the two-continent benefit concert aimed at stopping famine in Africa. ?What started 20 years ago is coming to a political point in a few weeks," Bob Geldof recently said. "There's more than a chance that the boys and girls with guitars will finally get to turn the world on its axis." Keep it tuned to Philadelphia?s First Rock Station, 93.3 WMMR, for all the details!

Here's a bit more info....

The concert is free they want your voice not your money! The day before alot of celebrities are going to be speaking on the museum steps also. What is happening is that musicians etc are speaking singing out in hope that the west will forgive Africa's debt they owe us, so that they may begin to help themselves. Everyday six thousand children die because of the lack of a seven dollar maleria net about the same per day each to starvation and aids. Africa hasn't been able to do much for themselves as they are paying huge debts back to us and the other nations included in Live 8. Yes I know that alot of money is wasted or abused by war lords etc other factors over population the list gores on but we as humans should have a kinder heart. It's not a good situation and in this day and age it shouldn't happen.

I'm just trying to share what I heard and learned in listening and opening my eyes! There will be alot more you all will here from the media and such. I'm not trying to get attention, boast or anything. I just think it's a good cause to stand up and shout about!!! Things will probably be changing right up till the day of the event so I'll leave it up to you all now.

Bye
