Alex's PRS (What--No Alex Model?)

Post by CygnusX1 »

Anybody notice the nice Paul Reed Smith that Alex is playing (on R-I-R and R30?)

Anybody notice that there is no mention (or photo) of Alex and his PRS on the PRS website Celebrity Page? hmmm...

Anybody thinking like I am? (that he actually had to BUY his, and it wasn't given to him for a cheesy endorsement?) Hey, I could be wrong...BUT...

It's just an observation......Far be it from me to make any accusations though... *razz*

Rush On,

Siggy

Already been to the PRS site, and sure 'nuff--no MENTION of Alex...It's got me wondering what the story is there...Did he just outright BUY one, or what? Anyway, he shreds it pretty good on La Villa, disc 2 of R-I-R...

Evidently, he's had it for a bit, because he has it in his axe rotation, and he's VERY good at feathering the controls during his leads....I was impressed...He's got a lot of trust in that guitar...They (PRS's) MUST be good!

But hey, what do I know...I play a Kramer...I get can his sound, just not his sustain or expression....Gotta go "Set Neck" (Glued necks) for that tone....Guess I'm gonna have to get ME a PRS!!

sweet.....

I am gonna stick with my Jackson. But the PRS's I have seen are quite nice. Quite.

Not a thing-in-the-world wrong with Jacksons...I have a Jackson elect/acoustic 6 stringer that is sweet...wouldn't trade it for anything...except, maybe a PRS hahaha zippy chance of anybody biting on that though...

I think if I got a guitar that Alex has, I might go for the Howard Roberts Fusion. Would be quite different in sound from the solid body I already own, and it would have a "connection" with two guitar greats.

not too familiar with the Howard Roberts model you speak of...I'm gonna check that one out....

I just learned the story behind YYZ....Do you know it? I thought it was interesting, and I always wondered how they came up with it...

HR made a number of guitars, but the only one HR designed that Al has is the Fusion, I think.

As far as YYZ goes, do you mean the connection with the airport and the morse code?

There was an interview I read where one of the spokespersons
for PRS guitars said they do not supply "free" guitars to anyone for
promotional purposes. Of course, this was a few years back. Specific
mention was referenced to Alex, and they said he had to buy his
guitars like everyone else. By the way, Alex seems to prefer bolt-on
necks on his PRS guitars. His single-cut model on R30 is an exception.

Hey, Estring! Are you the high or low string? *wink*

In the current issue of Guitar Player, Alex talks quite a bit about his different guitars and he does mention his thoughts on PRS models vs Gibbies.

Sweet...I DID notice, however, that he played at least THREE different customs during the shows...I wish there were pics of them...

And was wondering what ever became of some of his older axes, like the old honeyburst ES-335 he used to thrash...The Fender Tele's blew me away....never knew he played THOSE....

He's probably got a bloody MUSEUM of 'em...hahhaha

I'd take THAT tour...

I think on the one video--when they're jammin in Alex's studio (with Cochran from Red Ryder, and others), they're ALL playing Alex's axes....

I could be wrong, but I noticed a few I've seen Lerxt with before...
