Travelling Veteran's Memorial Wall

Post by awip2062 »

Today the Travelling Veteran's Memorial Wall has returned to our area. This is the third time it has been here since I have lived in the area. Every time it comes I take my kids to see it.

Here is the local paper's web-article about it:

"Clallam: Veterans Memorial wall to open at 7 Cedars Casino
2006-06-28
by DIANE URBANI DE LA PAZ

BLYN -- By 8 a.m. Thursday, a 378-foot-wide wall will be unfurled, like a pair of wings, in the 7 Cedars Casino parking lot.

It's the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, an aluminum replica of the Washington, D.C., Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

It lists more than 58,000 Americans killed in the Southeast Asia conflict -- never declared a war -- between 1954 and 1975.

This is the Traveling Wall's second trip to 7 Cedars, which is about 7 miles east of Sequim at 270756 U.S. Highway 101.

It was installed here for four days in July 2004, said casino marketing manager Judy Walz.

The wall will be erected just west of the casino building, near the patio.

``It stretches the length of the parking lot,'' she said.

At 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Commander Arnie Hunter of the Native American Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Neah Bay will preside over a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps during the opening ceremony.

Hunter, 66, is a Neah Bay native and Marine Corps veteran who was stationed in Okinawa from 1958 to 1962."

Well, at least you didn't think it was Dusti Dove! LOL

She took the picture.

Here is something that might help you remember which of my boys is which. Bear is 15 and Eagle is 12 and B comes before E in the alphabet.

When evil is allowed to compete with good, evil has an emotional populist appeal that wins out unless good men & women stand as a vanguard against abuse.

The closest casino to us is the Jamestown S'Klallam tribe's Seven Cedars Casino, which is making money hand over fist off you whities. I figure it to be about 40 miles from my house.
