Tax us to death

Post by Me »

Taxes! At first I thought this was funny... Then, I realized "How True it is!!"

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,

Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries,

Tax his tears.

Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,

Tax his cash.

Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.

If he hollers,
Tax him more,
Tax him ??~til he's good and sore.

Tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.

Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"

And when he's gone,
We won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance TAX!!

:(

I remember seeing a show recently where the people were living in the late 1800s. They were bitching about increase in property tax because of a railroad being built. One guy on line to the tax assesser (sp?) said, "Next they'll tax our INCOME!! I heard it may happen!"

"NEVER!" The others said.

They wouldn't believe Uncle Sam would tax their sweat.

Our tax's could be cut by a third easily if our gov. would stop the wasteful spending and more if the states and citys would rein in their wasteful spending too.

I once started keeping track of all the taxes I paid for things but quit because it was overwhelming.

In any democracy, candidates running for offices realize that they can get elected by promising government gifts to the voters. Well... where does the money that pays for those gifts come from? The government has no money, no income, only what they can confiscate from the citizens.

But once people forget that and start voting for the guy who promises to "give" them the biggest new entitlement programs, the democracy begins to decay.

What do you think "Bush's" hidden aganda was when he gave everyone six hundred dollars for a tax incentive or what ever you'd like to call it maybe look the other way and now you all are guilty

That tax cut had two effects:

1. Stimulate the economy. Since that cut we see story after story in the news about how tax revenue has far exceeded "what the experts predicted". In spite of being at war the economy continues to grow and unemployment continues to decrease.

2. Give the citizens a break after all the tax hikes of the 90's.

Bush's big entitlement gift was that new prescription drug program, not the tax cuts.

I can't think of a single person I know who pocketed the money he "gave" us, and there was a lot of talk during that time about what various people were going to do with it. The money went back into the economy just as quickly as it came to us, out here.

Here is a funny I received about taxes:

June 7, 2006

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the
Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to determine the
process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My reasons for wishing to change my status from US Citizen to illegal alien
stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which
you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an
illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, what I need
to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and Income taxes for
three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am
anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out. Simply
put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every
year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in
return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be
illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my
family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would
receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal
(retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be
most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,
Pete McGlaughlin
