I finally have Rush! My first impressions \m/

Post by Big Brother »

My Rush cd's have arrived!

I'll post my thoughts here.

First I gave Rush's debut a spin on the ol' cd player.

It has a Led Zep feel to it :-D
The songs I liked were
Finding my way
Need Some Love
Here Again Was a pleasant surprise, slow, smooth, and relaxin'
What you're doing
Before and After I liked this song from slow begining to strong ending
Working ManA song I'd heard on the radio before so many times I like it

Next album: Fly By Night

Fly By Night I'd heard this song on the radio before, this is only the second time I've listened to it :D

Over all I enjoyed this album

Big Brother, you are the BEST!! You remind me of my boyfriend when I first introduced him to Rush. (I grew up with it like my pablum so I didn't have the insight.)

His reaction to A Farewell to Kings was like yours. Joyous, wonderful. It meant alot to me enjoying his reaction and absolute awe at the musicianship. It brought me back and I never returned (huh?).

It still remains his favorite album although he doesn't call himself a "fan."

However, when "Resist" comes on the DVD he makes me turn it up as he says it makes him feel as he did as a yoooung lad growing up in Ireland and all he had to go through.

Life is good, no?

WELCOME to this board. :D

Hemispheres

Cygnus X-1 Book II
Hemispheres:
I Prelude
II Apollo Bringer of Wisdom
III Dionysus Bringer of Love
IV Armageddon the Battle of Heart and Mind
V Cgnus the Bringer of Balance
VI The Sphere A Kind of Dream
Ok, I liked this a whole lot better Than Cygnus X-1 Book I. The music is wonderful, and when the vocals come in it gets even better, perhaps my favourite song so far.

Circumstances I'm begining to be quite fond of Rush. They're story telling abilities dwarf anything I've heard before, including Sabbath

The Trees Another great song. I love the apocalyptic feel this it has. "There is trouble in the forest and the creatures all have fled!"

La Villa Strangiato I think the Instrumental is weak at the start, around the 2 minute mark it gets interesting 8)
I'm sorry but it's just F'n amazing!

In conclusion this is my favorite album thus far, way better than Farewell to Kings

Permanent Waves

The Spirit of Radio and Freewill
Both songs are good 8) I've listened to them on the radio before. They are the most frequent Rush songs that come on here aside from Tom Sawyer.

Jacobs Ladder
Spooky creeping sound, Me likes!

Entre Nous Was ok

Different Strings    :-D Emotional!

Natural Science I don't like the beginning. Why? Cos the water sounds make me wanna pee
Another early favorite song

Another Great album 8)

Signals

SubdivisionsClassic Rush? That's what the joker on the radio said, and he's right!

The Analog Kid Funny title, good song!

Digital Man The music reminds me of a Black Sabbath song.

New World Man

Countdown

Ok....not what I expected. Good music but the lyrics were not as good as in Pemanent Waves and Moving Pictures. Subdivions is me fav track on this album.

What do you think? Am I wrong in my initial reaction to Subdivisions?

Next Counter Parts

Nope, Subdivisions is a classic 8)
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"
