"Government has never increased the standard of living of one single human being in civilization's history. For some reason that simple truth has evaded everybody. The only thing that creates an increased standard of living is giving someone a job, the demand for their labor ... The people that are paying the price for this juggernaut of federal spending are the middle class and the working class of America."

"During my last shift in the ER, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient
with a shiny new gold tooth, multiple elaborate tattoos and a new cellular
telephone equipped with her favorite R&B tune for a ringtone...

*pauses game*

I just read the above post about the ER doctor. I am so torn on health care. I know there are a lot of people out there like this guy describes, people looking for a handout and who have no shame about doing it. Than there are people like my dad. He worked in a foundry for 35 years, and he had to retire early because of a disability. He is in a wheelchair now. My mom was a stay at home wife, I guess that is because thats the way it was back than. Anyway, they are on a fixed income and live well within thier means. He pays for insurance but because of preexisting conditions, its well over a $1000 a month. Dad does not want a handout, he just wants healthcare that is afforable. I guess what I am saying is that instead of giving free healthcare to everybody, how bout making it afforable? I remember awhile back I thought I was having a heart attack, turned out to be acid reflux BTW. My blood pressure was off the charts because I thought I was going to die so they admitted me. I spent the night and they ran some tests.. Total cost of a one night stay was $9000. Of course my insuarance picked it up, and I really did not need any special care, they gave me a blood thinner so my blood pressure came back down and I slept the whole night. But 9 grand? The problem with healthcare is that these doctors and hosipitals can charge whatever they want and the insurance companies will pay it. I guess I dont understand free healthcare because somebody still has to pay the bill. The goverment needs to step in and regulate the providers and get the costs down. My 2 cents. *resume game*

**pauses to respond to Soup**

I know what you're saying Soup, and God Bless your folks.

I have Cousins that work in a foundry in OH, and it's bust-ass work.

I'm gonna be in the same boat when I retire, so I can relate Bro.

MAKE IT AFFORDABLE. That's all I ask out of all these talking heads, NOT:

"Shove a tube down his throat and I'll get to him in 3 or 4 hours."

(BTW - Glad you're feeling better! I went in for the same thing, and not
knowing what it is scares the living hell out of you.)

I hear you, Soup. The CATO institute has great ideas for serious reform, rather than government takeover if you're interested in looking them up.

Most of the health care expense problems we face today have arisen from government intervention in the private sector. Saying that even more government will solve the problem is like saying you can sober up by having another drink. :)

that was a few years ago. Apparently the symptoms of Acid Reflux are like a heart attack, chest pains, pain down the left arm, and thinking that you are about to check out really helps the blood pressure.

"The Obama administration has attacked Fox News in order to prevent
government corruption stories broken on Fox from bleeding into the
other media, which are all-consumed with daily updates on Levi
Johnston's Playgirl spread and Carrie Prejean's breast implants.
That's understandable."

I find this humorous.

Jasmine Holt-Franklin said, "If my life was a credit report and I was trying to obtain salvation, based on my score I wouldn't get it. My history shows that I've been delinquent in praise, past due in prayer, my worship has been in collections and I've missed a few payments (tithes) or only paid half (you know how we put $20 in the basket and feel like we've done God a favor). Not to mention that my debt (sin) to income (blessings) ratio is too high. BUT I thank God that I was able to file bankruptcy (repentance) and it cleared me of all of my debt (sin). Now I have a co-signer (Jesus) whose score is FLAWLESS.... Not one blemish (sin) on his report. So now.... now I QUALIFY for EVERYTHING! Most importantly I've inherited eternal life and I didn't have to put one penny down.. All of my closing costs were covered when Jesus laid down His life for
me!!!! I hear that my future home has all of the upgrades too. Hardwood floors? Please!! I'll be walking on gold!"

"You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well, I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down. Man's old age dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism."
-- Ronald Reagan in 1964
