A good deed

Across the street from me, there is a sweet lovable dog who doesn't get enough care and attention from the owners. He is tied to a tree, didn't have a dog house, and these people don't give him enough food and water. Sometimes when it rains, they leave him tied to the tree and forget about him while he gets soaked. I have snuck over to give him scraps of food when they are not around. (Even stepped into a poison plant and I had to get an injection after getting a horrible allergic reaction on the back of my leg.)
I reported this neglect to the humane society because I don't like people who treat their pets so badly. Sometime ago, the owner finally gave him a doghouse to get inside in case of rain or it gets very hot. Today I received a card from the humane society saying they investigated these people and have referred them to animal control. I don't want anything to happen to him. He's the sweetest dog and he doesn't attract attention to me when I sneak over to bring him food.
I am happy they finally investigated this problem. I don't want him to die.
