Devilish!
HELL, Mich. They're planning a hot time Tuesday in Hell.
Tuesday bears the once-in-a-millennium date of six-six-oh-six, or, in brief, six-six-six _ a number that, according to the Bible's Book of Revelations, signifies the devil.
And nobody is more fired up than John Colone, the town's mayor and owner of a souvenir shop.
He plans to sell various items with the triple six, including T-shirts and mugs.
Live entertainment and a costume contest are also planned.
Colone has even been in touch with radio stations as far away as San Diego and Seattle that are raffling off trips to Hell in honor of six-six-six.
The town, located 60 miles west of Detroit, became officially known as Hell on October 13, 1841.

That's one person's opinion. The "number" of the beast, which is stated to be the number of a man, which, if it could be identified, would show who was involved in the great deceptions imposed upon mankind.Kares4Rush wrote:I read in the paper yesterday that the "beast" everyone refers to in Revelation was not the anti-Christ but the evil emperor Nero in Rome at the time.
Who that man is remains up to specualtion. And the theories are numerous. I've chosen to watch the debates with amusement, rather than get caught up in them.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

There are plenty of things about which I fall into the fanatical kook category. But hopefully this isn't one of them.Kares4Rush wrote:Me too, Elfie. I just never heard that one before.
This call-in radio show today had about 12 more theories! Some of them were quite interesting but others were obviously fanatical kooks.

It's many people's opinion. Nero is by far the most credible candidate.ElfDude wrote:That's one person's opinion.Kares4Rush wrote:I read in the paper yesterday that the "beast" everyone refers to in Revelation was not the anti-Christ but the evil emperor Nero in Rome at the time.
The verse in question is Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
It's numerology: the letters of the "beast's" name represent numbers, which, when added together, make 666. (Some manuscripts have 616.) So the question is how to convert letters into numbers.
This page has a clear explanation, albeit with a very unclear colour scheme.
