Oh, and it didn't cost them the game.
Italy didn't score off his booting.
They won cus France hit the crossbar, which happened whether
Zidane was in the lineup to kick or not.

schuette wrote:the talk is obviously about Zidane and how he was provoked.....to me it doesn't make any difference what Materazzi said, Zidane should not have reacted in that way......and how was Zidane rewarded...he's been given the best player of the tournament......maybe he was but whenever he did that headbutt he should have also been disqualified from the receiving the award...my 5 year old son was watching it along with milliions of other children and even he knew what Zidane did was out of order..
In addition, he also had the worst disciplinary record of any player in the tournament. Just goes to show how persuasive a players sycophants can be.

I just read an article that said he headbutted another player in 2000.
Wow.

I'm pretty sure the French expected the U.S. to bail them out before it was over. That's how it's always worked in the past, n'est-ce pas? They don't even have a word for "victory" in their language...

This thread is the worst possible place for an American to be making anti-France statements - here, if nowhere else, they'd wipe the floor with you.

I don't know much about the World Cup, but I'm fairly sure there's never been an occasion when the US progressed further than France.

I'm happy for italy. I liked visiting Italy and was able to speak to italians since spanish is so similar. I was torn between italy and france.
