Ursula (my German mom) isn't shy about her opinions on immigration. She came here through Canada after WWII, and she will let you know just how long she had to wait to ged in, all the requirements she had to meet, what life was like for her in this new country adapting to the customs and language et cetera, vs. how the illegals have it and why she thinks that the more difficult, legal way is best.

Mom and Dad spoke German in the home, but only in the home. They expected all of us kids to use English outside the home, and that was not open to any debate.
A woman once came into the bank where Dad worked to apply for a job. He found out she was illegally in the US and helped her to become legal, then gave her a job.
