I wouldn't call T4E or VT their harder stuff, although compared to the 80s or early 90s stuff, I suppose it is.

They single does remind me of VT though.

With less distortion though :-D

The debate regarding the different eras of Rush will continue as long as there are people who listen to the band. Most seem to have a prefeerence for a particular period which, if that is how their music listening faculties work, fine. (I mean, some people think that everything since Henmispheres is worthless :D )

Personally, I have no real preference for a period as I can always find something to make it worth listening to.

I think the important thing is that the new material sounds fresh and passionatge which, to me, 'Far Cry' does, nitpicks nonwithstanding.

I like different eras of Rush for different reasons. I have my fav. era too.

Isn't it funny that "era" is just "ear" with the letters re-arranged. How Rushian of it!

I finally listened to it. I like it a little more than VT. I'll buy the album and go to the concert, but I'm not dancing with excitement.

Maybe I'm just old. Is that it? I remember when Moving Pictures was about to be released and the local radio station was playing lots of different tracks from it. When we heard YYZ we were blown away. When we heard Witch Hunt we were so excited!

A new Rush album hasn't done that to me in so many years... has their music gotten less exciting or am I just old and desensitized?

The music isn't like MP, that is for sure. Not that it is bad, just different. Maybe you would mosh about if you heard something with an older sound. Then again, maybe not because they have been there and done that.

You can't be old though, considering the ages of the musicians in question! *wink*

Hmmm... so my question should be, "Are they just old? Is that the problem?"

Well...uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....hm. I dunno. Depends on the definition of old, I guess.

If there's a problem, it's with me.

Finally remembered to pop on and have a listen to it. All I can do is sit here and bounce going "Is it out yet? Is it out yet?" But then, I always did like their stuff best from Presto onward. Maybe I'm weird.

You say weird like it might be a bad thing.

I heard it was a throwback to some of their older stuff. I was bummed when I heard it. I was hoping for something a wee bit harder. Hmmmmmmmm, I guess this is what sells, though.

Actually, for me it's a constant state of being. ;)
