I do have a question too concerning "Malignant Narcissism" at 1:08 right smack dab in the middle of the track. I hear some sort of lyrics, does anyone know what it is? |
--------? malignant narcissism brought on during childhood.
First word possibly: insolence? ignorance?
Can't get the first word, helppppp......? _________________ Sound verbalized tones touch textured feel scent wafted aroma see visualize observe sing dance live |

"Usually a case of malignant narcissism is brought on during childhood"
Absolute truth in diagnosis. _________________ Sound verbalized tones touch textured feel scent wafted aroma see visualize observe sing dance live |

Yes, that's a line from the movie, "Team America" by the guys who wrote South Park. Matt and Trey are buddies of Neil and the gang.
That's why you got the South Park intro at the concert too. _________________

The way I look at bands is that they should grow and mature their sound. IF they cannot they are washed up and should just stop if they can't bring anything new to the table, Fortunately for me S&A and vapour trails really wowed me (even despite vapour trails bad production) and this leads me to believe the afforementioned to be the case for rush. As for rushes really old stuff RUSH and Caress of Steel don't really do it for me to say the least. Good but not amazing. |

I love that album too.
The first album didn't do much for me though. _________________ Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

But it's so raw, the birth of a nebulous band!

I agree with Elfie. The first album is not good.
A few of the songs yes, but as an entire album........................sadly no. _________________ This space for rent |

And that's fine. They were kids back then. Kids that could ROCK, mind you. But they had a lot to learn about song writing (as do I). The addition of Neil, both as a drummer and as a lyricist is really what took the band to the next level (IMO). _________________ Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

But when I play that album I get a priceless feeling of nostalgia and longing for the past. I still remember first listening to it with a buddy in 1975. Basement jam room. Posters of Alice and Sabbath on the walls. We thought (and probably were) the coolest kids around because this was our heavy metal secret, and we were listening the HELL out of it. Imbibed it.
The first album may have been raw and possibly infantile, but to some it was and is still magic. _________________ (((((((((((((((all'a you))))))))))))))) |
