Economic Stimulus Package

Post by awip2062 »

Looks like a version of this has passed the house. Other versions are in the making as well. Imagine, the government giving us money again! Twice in how short a time? *stands amazed*

The government has no money to give us. They didn't earn a dime. We earned it and they took it away from us.

If I sounded like I was correcting you, I'm sorry. Just making a point.

What is wrong with a correction? I'm a teacher, remember? I see corrections as needful not negative. Well, they can be done in a negative way, but that doesn't make them all bad.

I'm gonna spend it in my community to help businesses.

Isn't that what it's for?

I mean, to each their own.....but mortgage companies get enuff of my
money. I don't see how mortgage companies are gonna
get the economy rebounding....but hey, I'm not a economist either.

IMHO, with the glut of single and multi-family dwellings in this country....

...we need to invest in something else....

...like....

...alternative energy companies.

Yeah, that's the ticket. :-D

I think I'll buy stock in alternative energy companies. Wouldn't that be a hoot pass the stock down to my grandchildren (if I had any) and they never had to work because it increased so much.

Actually I didn't vote because I am not really sure yet ... but cyg's is correct we should spend it so it will help things get moving again.

I'm pretty sure Uncle Sugar wants us to spend it on goods and services.

Yeah, they want us to spend it on goods and services, but think of this:
Which will help the economy more in the long run? Spending the money on goods and services now or paying off the credit cards?

If we buy the goods and services now, yeah, sure the economy gets a boost, but we are still stuck with those credit card bills, many of them at high intrest rates, most growing day by day, and that will limit what we can buy later, so this stays a short-term shot in the arm.

Now, if we use this to pay down our credit card bills, we have less debt to pay down and will be out of debt sooner (providing that we are even attempting to get out of a lifestyle of debt) and once out of debt we will be able to put all the monies we were paying to credit card companies to purchasing goods and services that much sooner.

Do we want just a small kick in the pants for the economy or do we want to pull ourselves out of this totally?

I say we as a nation need to change our thinking from short-term, I-want-it-now, I-will-always-be-in-debt to a longer-term outlook realizing that IF we want, we CAN have financial freedom. Let's quit being slaves, and live our own lives!

Dawn, it's just an election year giveaway. You're reading way too much in to this. :)

I'd like to just party on it and buy some cool music stuff, but the reality is that I'll put it in my bank account and something will come along to claim it, whether it be an unexpected expense (auto repair, illness, etc.) or just drain via normal bill-paying. I don't expect, just as last time, for this to make a very big difference in my or our economy, but I also don't refuse money, especially if it was once mine anyway.

Now that's a lot of commas :-)

Yeps, but it was thoughtful and a lot of commas is a whole heck of a lot better than a whole lot of comas! :-)

Oh, I agree with that! Even one coma seems a bit much Image
