2004 KENTUCKY DERBY CONTENDERS

Post by Mr. Potatoe Head »

Early Times Mint Julep

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
Sprigs of fresh mint
Crushed ice
Early Times Kentucky Whisky
Silver Julep Cups
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

I had to go for him simply for the baseball reference and his sire has "Boston" in his name. And with a little luck, he's grey. I always bet on the grey horse! 8)

I LOVE DERBY DAY!!!! MAN Last year was a heartbreak.

I will abstain from voting at this point until I read more on the horses. But will vote before Post Time. I'm sure there will be some scratches by then.

I haven't read that much on the field yet either but thought I'd get it going for those that may be interested. PV I think this may be better suited towards the sports section. Could you move it over there please?

Smarty Jones, a Chester County horse has blossomed into a favorite.

That's not my pick I'm holding out also, for now. I let you all know my pick but don't bet your house on chance better if you take the money while the gamblers not looking

Mmm, I think I might have to call my guy and put some money down.... ;)
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

The very first Kentucky Fried Chicken was torn down last week. It was about about 40 miles north of here. They're going to build a new one with a small museum in it... but why tear down the first one?

And that's the extent of my Kentucky knowledge.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

I heard about this this morning and thought it really cool! I may have to put a fiver on Pollard's Vision (hmmm, spud, I don't see him on the list?). He was named after Seabiscuit's jockey Red Pollard.

I'm not much of a "pony bettor" either, T but I go for it a bit during Triple Crown season. I understand the dirty looks from the regulars I get at OTB when a newbie interloper like me shows up and clogs the system and upsets "their" turf (so to speak).

Here you go my good man Ogg and for anyone else try this link there is much more info on the web

http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2003/derby_history/

That was funny Kares I also am not a big better just this time of year for the triple crown.

Smarty Jones sure has gotten his share of the lime Light. I don't know about him though his size not up to snuff with the rest of the field. (size does matter  )I'll have to my homework tonight. Still a very good horse that Smarty Jones

 Must of been blind to that horse OK not so funny interseting enough though Kares. Anyone wanting to bet
Pollard on that can just say so.
I'll be giving my picks tonight or tomorrow before heading to the track
I'll indicate my favorite then my pick two and the trifecta. I usually just bet a couple of bucks and go for it all with the trifecta. I missed the trifecta with one of my horse coming in forth last year by a nose it would of made a handsome pay day.
