Mad World

Post by AK »

These are some lyrics that I identify with.

"Mad World"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... world
Enlarge your world
Mad world

Which version do you prefer... the Tears for Fears original or the cover that's getting airplay now?
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

I've only heard that song on the soundtrack of a movie called Donnie Darko, so I can't tell you which version I prefer. I also don't know what version it was :P
I remember watching in amazement as Geddy sang, played bass, and played the keyboards with his feet. I thought, "Who is this guy???"

The original is fairly bouncy... the cover is slower and has no percussion and sounds like the guy singing it is in a straight jacket in a padded cell. I prefer the cover.

Ah yes, I heard a piano and voice in that version I believe. I figured it would be the cover.

Ah yes, good ol' Donnie Darko. We once had a fiasco on a zep board over a member who went by that name who would do some insane shit. Come to find out a bunch of people were using the account to to troll the board.

Cool flick, tho, and I didn't know that was originally Tears for Fears.

That's the only version I've heard. I think it's cool. Pay me and I'll sing it for you.

I was wrong. I just heard the cover again. There is percussion... it's just not right up front in the mix.

All you youngsters!

TFF's version is 47 million times better. Good ol' fashioned 80's gloom and doom pop. I love it.

Something confuses me. I went looking for the lyrics to this song. I found them in a website that gives lyrics by a songwriter named Gary Jules. (he co-performed the cover)

Go ahead and laugh.
