Poems, Prayers and Promises

And things that we believe in?

Okay, okay I know I just brought John Denver in to a Rush forum but the sentiments in the song kinda remind me of Time Stand Still, or, well, I guess it would be the other way around since Time Stands Still is younger than Poems, Prayers and Promises.

Aaaaaaanyway...I thought it would be a good thread title for such things to be shared. No matter what our religious beliefs we all have things that we struggle with or want to share or find special and we can all respond from our hearts in our own ways.

What brought this idea to mind was the desire to share that a very good friend, known and loved not just by myself and my family but by the Hairballs and Panacea, by the name of Camille, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 inoperable breast cancer. :(

She has fought breast cancer once before and is tough. She is asking for any who will to pray and she told me, "Well, I guess we reeeeeeeeeeally grt to see G-d work His miracles now!"

Not good news at all. We will all keep Camille in our thoughts and prayers.

Let her know we got her.

I wish I could express how I am feeling about my friend . . . I trust in God for all things . . . and right now, He is giving me peace, no matter how things turn out. The important thing is that Camille knows she is loved.

Thanks, guys. She gets her port put in today and starts chemo (again) on Thursday. Last time she had the chemo it was administered on Thursdays and by Friday evening she was feeling pretty poorly. She was ill the weekend but ready to work on Monday and so she was able to keep working throughout. She is hoping for the same or better this time.

She had a bit of depression following her rediagnosis but since has been led to an amazing doctor who is not intimidated by this cancer and will allow her to do holistic medicine not just traditional western medicine so now she has hope and is doing better emotionally.

In other news....Dove was blasting the John Denver in the van last night and we were singing at the top of our lungs :-D

If you bring Poem Prayers and Promises into a thread as you said then I respond to your friend. I wish her the best. I know the song best and my friend, Nany Holden and I sang it as kids. She died of AIDS and I still think of her. But it is not a sad song.

What will kick my butt is remembering singing Rocky Mountain High and Grandmother's Feather Bed with her. :)

I have myself a mother in a very difficult situation with her health. It has kept me from much on line or anywhere else.. I don't want to burden this site but will for therepudic reasons "talk" but if it brought up such a thought then the song might go as well. :) Thank you, T.

Dittos here t. I went through it with my best friend. I even shaved my
head when Kelly lost his hair so he wouldn't feel alone in the fight.

Stay strong! (((Hug-4-U-both)))

Dittos to what everyone else said. Somewhere I have a picture of you and Camille and one other friend on a hike, crossing a bridge or something. She looks nice a very nice person.

As to John Denver, when I was in the 6th grade I loved his stuff and bought several albums only to wear them out playing them over and over on my little G.E. (we bring evil to life) record player. I liked Poems, Prayers, and Promises. But my favorites were Rhymes and Reasons along with The Eagle and the Hawk.

I lost my Mom suddenly on Sunday.

She had beaten breast cancer for decades, but a heart attack took her
from us in the blink of an eye. My Aunt, who is a EMT, just happened to
be visiting her when she collapsed. She got a pulse back in my Mom,
but there was nothing she could do.

My Aunt said that in the ER her pulse got weaker and eventually stopped.

She died while I was on the Interstate.

It helps to write about it because I consider myself among friends here
and I'm not the only one that has gone through this kind of loss.

((((hugs to t))))

I'm helping my dad out in WV as I type. It's about a 4 hour drive from
my house in VA. My three brothers are here too. I tell you what - my
Mom meant EVERYTHING to my Dad.

And, as you may already know, I lost my only sister in a car accident last
year, so this is especially tough to handle. Christmas is around the
corner. We'll celebrate the birth of Jesus, but that's about it.

My Dad is unglued. We have him resting though. That ALONE is a miracle in itself.

This is so tough to go through. I've "lost it" more than a few times
myself.

A son's love of his Mother will NEVER die.

All that said, I think that God is a merciful God, because:

1. My Mom was still grieving the loss of her daughter/my sister

2. She had a EMT at her side the whole time

3. She did not suffer, and:

4. I absolutely believe that my someone came for her to take her Home,
because my Aunt told me that in the ER she was holding her arm up - as
if to take someone's hand - and she was talking to someone.

Was it the Lord, or my Sis? :?

My brothers and I think that since my Mom and Sister LOVED to shop, my
Sister grabbed my Mom's hand and took her to the "Mall of Heaven" to be
fitted for angel wings. :angel4:

I love my Mom and we were very close. However, I have to be strong
for my dad at her funeral tomorrow.

I humbly ask you to pray for us.

Thanks, and I'll see you back on the boards when I'm able.

P.S. - Dawn: I remember your strength and faith and grace when you
lost your mom. I hope I can follow in your footsteps. :-)

I lost my mom 20 years ago. I understand. And I have no doubt that your sister was there to meet her.

Hang in there.

Thanks Matt.

I humbly include you as a mentor of inspiration.

I just wish I could sleep.

Can't right now. Too worried about my Dad.
