That feeling is temporary. :(
I think we both know that and try to lie to ourselves, believing otherwise :P

Anybody watch the Nationwide race in Nashville last night!

Did you see Kyle Busch take the trophy (A custom-graphic Gibson Les
Paul) and SMASH IT on the pavement last night?

What a jackass! Somebody put many hours and labor into building that
guitar, and he just took it, turned around and smashed it.

He's goin' straight to guitar HELL.

at least it was only a gibson, as for the amount of work someone did, they don't even do their own fretwork anymore, the use a plek machine :P..

I jest, shame to see ANY instrument, regardless of value broken. Its like burning books.

It's a custom Sam Bass original that took 6 to 8 weeks of workmanship,
at a price of $28-30k (USD)

I consider it BLASPHEMY.

doing a monster setup on my bass now that I finally got strings (been about 8 months). I was wondering why tapping was getting difficult, turns out the action is around .03... I like it at .13-.14.... This setup is going pretty slow the neck doesn't want to settle down, I need to pay more attention during the transition seasons here.

4 years and change later....

Took the Strat out and played it...loved how fast the neck was...so I am going to get an SHR 1B (humbucker for a single coil slot), put it in the bridge spot, keep the other two single coil pickups, and I have all new pots and a new switch being shipped to me now.

Zed - Lemme know how that HB works out in a single slot.

I'm going for a new bridge 'bucker for my PRS. The stock one just
doesn't cut it.

I just finished an article about fake Gibby LP's are being imported from
overseas...interesting how they're getting "better" at it every year.

Basically I am going to be renovating the guitar - new pots, new switch, new pickup for the bridge slot but not changing the tone cap as I am happy with it. I am going to re-solder the lot - I want to do this because I want to make sure it's done properly. Don't forget I was having all sorts of issues with the switch and the pickups cutting in and out.

I borrowed the idea from Ritzy Bryan of The Joy Formidable - my guitar is basically going to mirror hers and I like her sound.

I like that move. I'm going to re-solder the works while I have mine
open too. Gonna paint the pickup skirts white while I'm at it.

I have a friend that plays and he had a problem with his P/U switch. It's
not a 5-way (typical Strat switch). It's a SPDT (single pole double throw)
wafer switch. He is a heavy smoker, so I asked him if I could look at it.

(I know from personal experience that nicotine gets on EVERYTHING and
gums it up.)

Sure enough, the switch contacts were glazed and sticky from nicotine. A
little alcohol on a Q-tip and some FINE emery cloth took care of that.

The screws holding the contact insulation wafers together were loose too,
so I lined those wafers up and re-tightened 'em while I was at it.

He's back to shreddin' and I got a free dinner outta the deal, so it's all good. :-D

And I didn't cheap out on the parts - got Fender replacements so they should be higher quality than what I am removing.

I can see that.

I play a low-end Paulie Smith SE and it's going into "rehab" soon.

I played mine for a while without wiping it down....and guess what?

I discovered that after wearing the "chrome plating" off the left side of the
bridge (due to resting my pick hand palm on the bridge) that the floating
bridge actually looks to be made of copper. Interesting.

At least it has that "worn" look now. Eat your heart out Gibson. lol
