Many years ago our congress did vote on whether our nation should function in English or German. English won. http://www.snopes.com/language/apocryph/german.asp The United States has no official language, and never has. I hope it won't either. Read my statement again. Though I could have worded it ...

There are similar situations in Ireland, Japan, The UK, Canada, and Germany. There is nothing sacred about the US attachment to the English language. The majority of the US colonies simply belonged to England when we rebelled against it. English is not so much the language of the US as it is the lan...

*Looks through bars, hands clenched around the ones at either end and yells, "WOO-HOO! JAIL! NOT ONLY CAN I GET SOME PRIVACY, BUT I GET CONJUGAL VISITS! NOW, PLEASE!"* :-D "Conjugal visits? Mmmm. Not that I know of. Y'know, minimum-security prison is no picnic. I have a client in the...

The whole situation with Mexico is much more complicated than immigration politics or US foreign policy. The US is one of the most scientifically and technologically advanced countries in the world, outfitted with a representative democracy (or at least the remains of it). Just to the south of us, w...

I'll now say that I went for Sam Kieth. The Maxx moved me like no other comic I ever read, and I'm eager to try some more of his stuff. Kieth's writing about sex, death, friendship, family, psychology, and generally absurdist sense of humor have me ensnared.

Coroner: a lost cause found

Life isn?t fair. This is a recurring theme in heavy metal music, and in the lives of those who created it. One of the most unforgiving avenues was the European thrash scene of the 1980s. It is a pantheon of has-beens who never were, the most dispiriting tale perhaps being the fate of Swiss metal pio...

Hehe. No, that's my friend Jenny Parsons. I lost touch with her years ago, but if she's still as crazy as she used to be, the woman would probably kill you for saying that.

You know, I really didn't like the season finale much. I dunno if I'm looking forward to the next season either. The return of Catherine Tate? I mean, she's an excellent actress an' all, but her character annoyed the PISS out of me. angry9:

I'd much rather have seen Sally Sparrow return.
