I'm new to this forum, so I'll start by saying hello.
My question is.
Has anyone heard the remastered vapor trails cd?
Is it any better? Has the volume been turned down any?

:?

Hi schuette, I notice you're from Grangemouth. I'm originaly from Edinburgh.

It's good to see another Scottish Rush fan, I sometimes think I'm the only one.

I was gutted I couldn't see them in Glasgow; I moved out here 2 weeks before the show and there was too much to organise at this end. Bad timing or what.
I did go to see them in Hartford, CT. on the Vapor Trails tour in 2002, so I guess that?s some kind of a consolation. :-D
I also seen them twice in Glasgow on the Hold your fire tour and Roll the bones (I think), so I guess we were at the same gigs together.

Is that too long an answer?

What was the Glasgow gig like?

Ah, you enjoyed it then.
I don?t know about you but it?s always a major disappointment for me when Rush gigs end. Two hours can seem like a few minutes. I just want them to go on forever.
Please god can I win the lottery, so I can spend my life going to Rush gigs? :smt084
If he exists, I?m sure he?s a Rush fan.

It has not yet been released, and it is a mystery as to when (or if) it will be.

Welcome to the board. :-)

Thanks Grizz, I just found this quote from Atlantic records.

"Thank you for ordering from Atlantic Records Online store. Unfortunately, Vapor Trails-Remastered, is no longer available for sale and has been cancelled from your order. Be assured that you were not billed for the order as it never shipped to you. It is our policy not to bill for items until they have shipped. Again, our sincere apologies and thank you for your understanding. We hope that you visit us again." - Email from Atlantic Records, May 16, 2005

Sounds like it isn?t coming out after all. I hope it?s wrong. It?s a good record but it sounds as though it?s been recorded on an old cassette with the record level too high.

The mastering issues with Vapor Trails have been discussed to death. As far as I know there has never been any official statement concerning a remastered version. There is endless speculation however.

The best infromation states that the album has indeed been remastered. But nobody seems to know for sure.

Sorry if I'm stomping on old issues.
The Re-mastered tracks are available from the link below, only draw back is, you need to live in the states to purchase them.
I listened to the 30 second clips of the tracks and I can't really hear any difference but 64 K bits/second may not be the best way to judge.

Have a listen and let me know what you think.

It has been determined that those downloadable tracks are from the original release. And I have some more information. Vapor Trails has indeed been remastered and the tapes have been sent to Atlantic. However the record company is not yet releasing it. Speculation is that they will release it at the same time as the next Rush album, as there are still a lot of copies of the original release on hand.
