Prized Rush possesions

Post by Middle Kingdom »

Well, I have never met the boys, but I did get to be the first to ask them a question on Rockline for both the Vapor Trails and R30 Tour announcement radio shows on the air.

I have no autographs either, but I did find some neat things I do own while cleaning, and I thought I;d share them with you, in separate posts.
Sorry if the pics are too big, I'm lucky I know how to get them on here.

I have a square 45 for Roll The Bones b/w The Pass and It's A Rap (An interview with Alex). The grooves are cut into the square, and it barely fits on the turntable.

And one of the "Holy Grails" of Rush, the first album on Moon Records.
Enjoy!

Hmmmm, no one has any pics of their own stuff to share?

I also found two newspaper reviews I clipped out.
One was of the October 2 1984 show I went to, and the other from the
December 1991 show I went to, both here in Worcester.

I'll try to post them this weekend, so you can read what was said about the boys.

Why is that?

They are all Ebay purchases.

The Countdown shuttle was about $53
The Rush on Moon Records was about $45 (clearly the seller didn't know what he had!)
And the RTB was about $13 I believe.

Nopes, I don't. I am one of those people who when I meet a band, I don't even get an autograph, I just talk to them. My two youngest kids always get autographs though.

I do, but unfortunately, nothing of Rush, other than a T4E bandana and the normal stuff, nothing cool like you have MK.

I have Barbados postcards Alex signed for me (and one for my sis...she'd have mauled me if I didn't) in 1979, when I literally walked into him and his (first) wife on the street in Bridgetown, Barbados.

I was on liberty from my ship in the US Navy, as it was a port-of-call.

And to be truthful, we stuck out like a sore thumb because of the populace being African American, so theryago...He was just as surprised as I was (Frankly, I felt they were there to AVOID fans and have some privacy), and I apologized for bothering them on their holiday, but it was something I WAS NOT going to go away without, as I am one of their OLDEST-if not BIGGEST fans...hahaha

He was SO gracious (his wife too), and he signed everything I had!
He even thanked me for my service to my country....How cool is THAT?

Now I'm a 45-year-old recreational guitarist, and Alex will always be my inspiration and mentor....

Although it's been more than 25 years, thank you again Alex, and I still have the postcards....They'll be passed down in my will, and believe me, the torch is going to pass....There are new Rush fans emerging every day, and I have two young nephews to prove it! hahaha

Rock On,

Cygnus

AWESOME MK!!!

I have a tie-dyed concert shirt form 1980 that has the SAME design as the Starman side of your disk!!!

Talk about ironic-- AND "chronic"! hahaha

Thanks for sharing that one!

Once upon a time there was a story that began not too many moons ago when a Dutch man named Tonny came here and began to post under the moniker DutchRush. He made the siggy for me and another like it for Kares.
