GO NEWMAN! Win NONE for the Gipper. Who cares at this point....meh
They're still racing? I've moved on to watching paint dry and watching Fieldturf grow - it's much more exciting than this Chase has been.

The only thing I'm looking forward to NEXT YEAR. Dale Jr. will have his new
Crew Chief, Greg Ives. Ives was Jimmie's former car engineer and is
currently CC for Dale Jr's NNS Driver, Chase Elliott.

Dale Jr could make history by winning a NNS/Busch Series championship as a
driver and as a team owner. Not much talk about that in the media, but it's
okay....Dale Jr. wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy wins the race and the title - not a bad ending.

They need to fix the Chase though - clearly is something wrong with this elimination format.

SO glad Harvick won. I was rooting for Harvick the whole time. If Newman
had won, I would have tossed my TV across the room.

Gotta correct my claim about Junior being the first to get a NNS c'ship as a
driver and owner. The first to do that was Joe Nemechek. Dale Jr.
drove to win 2 for DEI and Chase Elliott won it for JRM with Junior as owner.

Totally agree about the chase rules. The nascar higher-ups are trying to
paint it as fan-friendly when they're on the mic, but common sense would
dictate that you don't eliminate a 7-race winner from a championship
in any racing league. Wut wut... :?

Congrats to Harvick. The right man won the championship.

I give nascar props for that.

Dale Jr will start 2015 with new crew chief Greg Ives. Ives was the
Car Engineer for 4 of Jimmie's 6 championships with the 48 team and has
since guided Chase Elliott to his first NNS championship (youngest champion
ever BTW) for Junior Motorsports and will now move to Cup, set up the
88 cars off the truck and call the shots from the pit box.

I think I'm going to like 2015 already. 8)

I have to admit I am curious to know why Steve Letarte is going to NBC's booth to broadcast.

SL's 4-year contract extension from 2010 has ended, but this should help
explain why he isn't interested in re-upping:

I truly hope Jeff Gordon wins the championship this year and stops racing full time the best way possible.

Amen Zed..

I was able to get into Daytona Speedway on Tuesday. Standing on the start/finish line was way cool. TV does the banking no justice. Unreal..

Not to be a buzzkill bro, but Gordon's hanging it up after this year.

I hope he can get #5 before he bolts.

Been there myself Soups. Turn 1 is scary as hell to stand on top of - much
less go around it at 200-plus mph in a pack.
