So my first day of vacation my son was away with his grandparents, my wife was out furniture shopping with a friend of ours and I was alone with about 8 hours to kill. Go time!

So after I stripped everything out it looked like this:

Much better - and I could work with it. After watching a YT vid with Seymour Duncan himself installing these pickups I saw some neat ideas about installation - so I copied the first one about neatening up the wiring:

Heatshrink does wonders - then installed the pickup and switch to check clearances:

Fit like a glove! Installed the pots and oriented them like the diagram:

Cut the wiring down to fit, tinned all the ends of the wires and my contact points...

At this point I must apologize - I could not snap photos and solder.

And no, I didn't burn myself....much. Just touched the gun once. At least it wasn't the liquid solder!

*drumroll*

TADAH! The only thing I was pissed about was the old knobs did not fit on the Fender pots. Took a trip to Guitar Center yesterday, drooled over the stock, and got some Fender knobs to go on the shafts of the pots:

Sounds pretty good so far - I tested it on a little Zoom battery amp but it has no clean sound as all the sounds are pre-programmed. I do have an old amp I could put it through however I have some concerns about the amp itself as it has a two prong cord - that's how old the amp is.

I might have to borrow a small amp from someone to try it out clean and loud.

Go to wherever you buy electrical stuff and buy a small 15A GFCI adapter cord/plug. 2 prong problem solved.

This is what I suggest:

http://www.nextag.com/TRC-Shockshield-W ... EA4F37A317

It looks for the slightest current leak to ground to protect against ground fault shock.

It's affordable and it's U/L listed, so you're good to go.

Twinblade and two single coils... killer combination. Works great for me on my blue Carvin. :)

In this month's issue of "Guitar World" magazine, various guitarists and musicians were interviewed and asked the question:

"What album changed your life?"

John Petrucci (Dream Theater): 2112!

ME TOO! I almost fell out of my chair!

Now I know a famous student of Lerxst! SWEET. \m/ \m/

*elevates Petrucci and DT to the top of the download list*

Cool stuff!

In my Carvin world, here's my most recent acquisition: an mid 80's SH225 semi-hollow! Somewhere out there there's an ad with Alex Lifeson holding one of these. 8)

Nice!

I wish Fender would make a Lifeson Tele...or do they already?

Petrucci has his own signature Music Man axe.....6 or 7 strings.

I'm not into the "djent" sound, so I'll take the 6. :-D

Also picked up a pair of these last Spring so my brother and I could each have one.
