A very under-rated band, but did they make some great records Dan MacCaffererty having one of the best rock voices ever.

I SAW them from time to time....They were nearly as big as Frampton in
the 70's, although Manny Charlton was considered by many to be a
inferior guitar player.

They toured with Ted Nugent and Foreigner many, many times.

Fave Song:

It's a TOSS UP!

"Razamanaz" and "This Flight Tonight" are two heavy hitters IMHO.

Cool! Did you know Joni Mitchell covered it? I was like GET OUTTA HERE!,

but I also remembered that Judas Priest covered Joan Baez's "Diamonds
and Rust," and Pat Boone covered Black Sabbath, so anything goes in
rock, right? hahaha

PM's comin Myg...

They do make them, but he does it on purpose still. With a nice crisp, sharp "t" at the end of the hiss of the "s" on "Rust".

Hmmm....I'm thinking.....I might jam some Naz tonight (and a little Baez done JP style!). :-)

Can't tell ya how many times I picked out "Love Hurts" in my younger
days!

It's STILL a tasty guitar song today if you ask me. :-)

I've saw them a few times but the best one was probably about 16 or 17 years ago when they played a sit down acoustic set in a pub in Falkirk...that was really really good

I watched them open for Ted Nugent on three different tours.

One was a stadium show. Good times.

I know Dan McCafferty and Pete Agnew personally. They both reside in a city called Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland. I live very near to there.

In years gone past I used to go to a jam-session night most Thursday nights at a local pub in Dunfermline called "Sinky's". It was THE place to be on a Thursday night in Dunfermline as musicians used to come from far and wide just to play on stage with different musicians and jam lots of rock tunes. It was brilliant.

There were a few times when the whole band Nazareth (minus Manny Charlton) would come along and play 4 or 5 songs to a relatively small but very appreciative crowd. Imagine going along to your local pub and see Nazareth performing there........ :-D  :-D

I remember seeing them once before Darrel Sweet died. When he died it was a very sombre mood that had dorned the couple of jam nights after that. There were guys going up and performing Naz songs and also a memorial/charity fund set up in his name. There was also talk of the band disbanding for good at the time. However, Pete's oldest son Lee Agnew was then asked to fill the empty drum stool (albeit temporarily to start with) then got the job permanently.

I'm more friendly with Pete's sons (as they are around the same age as me). Lee (who plays in Naz), Stevie (who is a local music legend in his own right here in Dunfermline. Look him up on youtube) and Chris (good bassist friend of mine who is a real down to earth guy).
