Proof that simple songs can be awesome too.

I heard this one for the first time yesterday and it is pleasing to my ears.
This is "The Hardest Button to Button"

The duo announced they had split on February 2nd.
I've been watching fans' reactions; you'd think Jack and Meg had died. One said she cried after hearing the news.

It is sad, they did some unique music - but better to go out on top then after jumping the shark.

It'll be interesting to see where they both go and what they do in the
future.

I learned of this from a news article link with the words, "Now that she has more time on her hands, Meg White can learn to play the drums". The ensuing comments included agreements with the headline and a few who stuck up for her.

Being a fine drummer doesn't mean one must play like Neil Peart.
That's not what being a musician is about.

I totally agree. Flea of RHCP is a perfect example.

The dude's a FREAK on bass, but he's going back to school to learn more theory.

I say more power to him (and anyone else) that wants to take their craft to
the next level. It's never too late to learn.

Agreed, there are a ton out there. All instruments.

Meg played what fit - the people slamming her should try to pick up the drums and play like her.

Asshats.

The interesting thing is that many of the Meg-slammers I've heard claim to be Rush fans. Now, I mean no disrespect to any of you (unless you're like that) but, to a degree, it isn't a shock. Think about it: Rush are among the greatest players of their respective instruments. Because of this, some get the idea that you must play in that caliber in order to be considered "good" or "knows how to play", thus turning them into the kind of music-lovers you want to beat into deafness. And the musicians like this are even worse.

Okay, rant basically over

Yes, I know there's a rant thread.

Point of view doesn't = rant. Well, not all of the time, it depends on sharpness of tongue. :-D

It would've been a little sharp had I spoken it. :)

As long as a drummer is a good timekeeper, they're doing their job.

All the rest is a bonus.

Just my humble opinion folks. :-)

Jack's such a pure throwback player. I'm lovin' every note of it.
