I'm not much of a sweets person, but my mother makes this chocolate cheesecake thing-a-mbob that I would kill for. However, since I haven't spoken to my mother in years, it might be impossible for me to get the recipie. Maybe I can get my sister to get it from her for me.

I make good lasagne. :)

Two secret ingredients: garlic and stilton :D

If anyone want an actual recipe, I'll have to figure out what quantities of everything I use..... It's a kind of inspired guesswork process....

Here is a cheesecake recipe for you By-tor. I know it isn't full chocolate, but it is great! Enjoy

Oreo Cheesecake

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Crust
2-1/2 cups Oreo cookie crumbs
4 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling
4 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, room temp
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 tablespoons flour all purpose
4 large eggs, room temp
3 large egg yolks, room temp
1/3 cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-3/4 cups coarsely chopped Oreos

Topping
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sour cream

Butter a springform pan

Crust
Crush cookies into crumbs. Add butter and mix until blended.
Pour into springform pan. Press evenly over bottom and two thirds up sides of pan.
Refrigerate while preparing filling.

Filling
Beat cream cheese in a large bowl, on medium, until smooth. Scrape down sides.
Add 1-1/4 cups sugar. Beat about 3 minutes, until fluffy and light.
Scrape down sides occasionally. Mix in flour.
While beating continuously, add eggs and yolks.
Mix until smooth. Beat in whipping cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Beat until well blended.

Pour half the batter into prepared crust. Sprinkle with chopped Oreos.
Pour remaining batter over and smooth top. Some of the cookies may rise to the top.

Place pan on baking sheet. Bake in the 425 degree oven for 15 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 250 degrees and back for an additional 50 minutes or until set(center should not wiggle when pan is moved).

Remove cake from oven and increase oven temperature to 350 degrees.

Topping
Stir together sour cream, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Spread mixture evenly over cake.
Return to oven and bake 7 minutes or until sour cream begins to set.

Remove from oven and cool in draft free place to room temperature.
Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
I'm in motion.
I am still.
I am crying.
I am still.
I'm together.
I'm apart.
I'm forever.
At the start.

Still... I am.

They BOTH sound great! I'll have to put my chef's hat back on after the New Year (Man!) and get-a-goin'! After that cheesecake, though, I'll have to live on that salad for a week, though!

NWM, does it matter which "flavor" of Ramen? Chicken, Shrimp, Beef?

Thanks!

Well, you kinda bear in mind how many people you're trying to feed, and then it's a matter of "Is that enough? Nah, a little more... Enough yet...?" Etc :D

Bastard Pie

Post by Zivo »

I call it Bastard Pie. It's sort-of a Shepherds Pie with an American-Anglophile twist or two. Sounds weird, but those who have tried it are always bothering me to make another load of it for them. In fact, I'm making it for tonights dinner (supper, whatever).
____________________________________
Ingredients:
2 pounds of mashed potatoes (preferably in the square plastic bags)
2 pounds of ground beef (mad cow free)
2 8oz cans of "Manwich" sauce
2 cans of mixed veg (or any veg you fancy)
2 bags of shredded Sharp cheddar
1 bag of shredded mozzarella
Various italian spices (whatever you like)

Pre-heat oven to 400 (U.S., I'm not sure what that would be in other countries)
Cook ground beef in skillet, while spreading 1 bag of mashed potato on bottom of a rectangular glass casserole dish (large).
Shake a layer of shredded sharp cheddar ontop of potato bed.
Add manwich to ground beef after browned, simmer.
Place strained mixed veg (or veg of choice) ontop of first layer of cheese.
Layer ground beef mixture on top of the veg.
Shake second bag of shredded cheddar ontop of ground beef. Spread evenly.
Cut corner off of second bag of mashed potato and squeeze out contents on top of ground beef as a baker would decorate a cake with icing, making rows, or any pattern that you desire.
Finally, spread the shredded Mozz. on the top.
Add mushrooms, spices, whatever you desire on the top of the mountain.
Bake in oven for 30 minutes or so.
The entire house will fill with an intoxicating aroma, and depending on the size of your family or guests, you will have some yummy leftovers for the next day.
BTW, the name Bastard Pie comes from my girl's nickname for me

I made that Chicken recipe that By-Tor posted and the family all liked it. I have since talked to By-Tor about it and he tells me there is really one thing in the recipe that differs from what he posted. It seems that he and his family is vegan and he used tofu chicken instead of the real stuff. We used actual chicken (that is right, REAL DEAD animals!) and it worked well. I wouldn't recommend the fake stuff.

Jinovich, I always ged busted by my hubby whenever I call the noon meal dinner and the evening one supper.
