Okay, guys, I'm gonna do it. I really didn't care for the Lord of the Rings when I was a kid and tried reading it, but I keep hearing all this good stuff about the movies so I got the first one from NetFlix and am gonna try to watch it this week.

I'll let you know what I think.

The third one is by far the best. Be warned.

I'm just sayin'... to some (like me) it feels like nothing is happening for a very long time.

But a lot of the third one had me on the edge of my seat, so don't give up! ;)

Personally I thought the lord of the rings movies were terrible, far too long and boring. The silmarillion (compiled post mortum) was probably my favourite tolkien read though, albeit I did enjoy Lord of the rings.

Maybe the books are the same way? I know I just couldn't get into them although I did read a ways in.

I didn't read any of them and I liked all three movies.

I liked it. The movie didn't bore me (maybe the books wouldn't today?). I even found it a bit encouraging.

Frodo says to Gandalf, "I wish the ring had never come to me..I wish none of this had happened..."

Gandalf responds, "So do all who lie to see such times...but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I feel like Frodo at times looking at my life, I wish that this or that had never happened, that I had acted differently, had made different choices.

But Gandalf reminds me of Iron Maiden as they sing about not chasing after the wasted years. Do with what we are given, and that would include doing with what we have given ourselves.

On a less serious note: what is all this drooling I have heard about over Legolas? *yawns* He was....ehhhh, he was nothing special in my mind. Strider was WAY better!

They were my wife's boots. :( And I look nothing like that these days. To quote my brother's song...

Yeah I'm gettin' older, baby
All my good looks are gone!

Tish pashaw! You still got it, buddy. At least you're not bordering on "Hagrid!" Maybe it's the dead groundhogs hanging from my belt.
