The Frustration of Not Knowing What's Wrong With Me

Post by AK »

Yes, there is something wrong with me.

I am visually impaired.

I have to do a research paper on an area of disability, and I chose vision impairments, for obvious reasons. Looking for information has reminded me of haunting facts. I don't know why I can't see well. I could tell you what I see. Nothing can be done to correct it, which is kind of depressing. I've learned to live with it, though. I love music (RUSH!!). I can play several instruments, and have been told that I am talented, yay!

i myself don't put much value on vision now, but i guess you don't know how great something is until you've lost it...

AK I am sorry to hear about the condition of your vision. It is good to hear that you have not allowed the problem to diminish the development of your other talents and abilities. Keep working on those things you can do and best of luck with your report.

Today, after seventeen years of having the problem, I have found out what it is. (it's about time, eh?)

It's called "optic nerve hypoplasia". I hope I spelled that right. I have something else, too, but I can't remember. It's hard to remember the words that you can't pronounce.

Well, at the very least, you can be thankful that you arent hearing impaired, and can enjoy music and such. I always said i'd rather be blind than deaf, as music means more to me than anything i can see. But yeah, i hope something can be done about your vision problems, but if not, like i said, you'll always have music. :)
