What's In A Name?

Post by awip2062 »

Well, if you are running for president in the US, a name could win you or lose you an election!

"(CNN) -- If presidential elections were held today, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton would likely have a comfortable edge over Sen. John McCain, but take away her maiden name and McCain has a better shot of landing in the Oval Office.

So say the results of a CNN poll released Friday by Opinion Research Corp., which asked 506 adult Americans whom they preferred among potential 2008 presidential candidates. The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 4.5 percent.

Asked if they preferred Hillary Rodham Clinton to McCain, respondents gave the Democratic New York senator and former first lady a 51 percent to 44 percent advantage over the Republican Senator from Arizona. Remove "Rodham" and McCain had a 1 percentage point advantage, 48 percent to 47 percent."

I think the poll was stupid. If it had an error margin of 3% then it comes out being the same either way.

I really hope it's somebody other than Hillary and McCain...

I still say that we should vote the same way for the same person, no matter if they have their maiden name in there or not. Can't we identify people accurately?

How can she be president again? She has already had two terms.
Happy 2015!

Constitutional scholars are debating right now over whether a Clinton/Clinton ticket would be legal, with Bill being the vice presidential candidate.

From all I've heard, that'd be legal.

And in theory, George Bush Sr. could run again (he only did one term) with George Bush Jr. as his running mate.

Neither of these things will happen, of course, but they're interesting to think about.

No kidding!

We've spent so many years in this country with a Bush or a Clinton at the helm... I think most of us really want a ballot that's free of both of those names. :)

A ballot without both of those names wouild be fine by me, I just want to be able to CHOOSE between quality candidates.
