Thanks for posting that link, BBO. I loved that commercial as a kid. And I loved it when they parodied it on the Simpsons too. :-D
Now I can finally show it to my kids.

His name was Iron Eyes Cody. The commericial first aired on Earth Day 1971.

I remember the first time my big brother and I saw it together. It brought a tear to our eyes as well. Then my brother ran off to tell my mom about it. (that's how I remember it anyway)

that is something I'm strict about...my kids do not litter....they're pockets come home with all sorts though :-D

oh my GOODNESS, BBO! You just brought me back to being a kid and seeing that for the first time. I think that was the first time I felt profound sadness and I remember feeling so helpless. My first experience of true empathy. I never forgot it. :cry: I guess that's why I'm such a nut about litter and pollution now.

Ah, the 70's. Talk about planting seeds! :)
