YYZ chords...effect?

In the middle of the song, when Alex plays those chords where/when those bass and drum fills are. Sounds like a sustain effect on those chords. They really ring out.

What effect(pedal or something) is he using to get those chords to sustain out in this particular section. I know the chords and how to play them. In other words I can play this particular section. The effects seems to be, chorus and gain, BUT, I'm hearing some sustain or something to make those chords ring out like they do, not sure what it is. It may be a sustain effect, I'm not sure.

Thanks
Allan

Yep, he's got gain and chorus going. He MIGHT have a little flanger mixed in as well (at the time he used an Electro-Harmonix Flanger quite a bit -- the very end of "The Camera Eye" is a good example). I don't think he has any sustain effects engaged (like a compressor), but you never know.

Well hello to both of you.

I was wondering when you might get around to posting here. Being a drummer I can't answer the question, but there are those here that can.

Look around, post and have fun.

I have REAL "YYZ" tabs. I bought 'em, of course.

You're playing "Russian Roulette" with internet tabs.

(they're just a bunch of college kids [with nothing else to do] posting 'em.)

GC HAD 'em for around 30 bones (after tax).

Here's my book:

They're pretty damn good. These guys are serious.

I have that book for Bass Cyg, albeit those still aren't official tabs, so if the 'college kid' has a good ear, they could easily be identical :P The song lists for the books aren't identical but they are close.

I also forgot the >insert obligatory guitar center slam<.

Please, Bro!

Those are studio musicians transcribing "authorized" tab - Not some kid in
a beanbag chair with a X hangover. :P

I've seen some real Rush guitar tab trainwrecks, so I'll take the anthology
book anyday.

The anthology book is the best I've seen in my 48 years.

Show me a better one and I'll buy it.

just my two cents.

A rush tab site with some pretty rush tabs is the rush tab project (cygnus prductions) Google it sometime, their basslines are usually spot on. Guitar work is generally very close or dead on. just because someone isn't a studio musician doesn't mean they aren't the same caliber as one. There are a whole tonne of bad tabs out there, but there are a whole tonne of spot on ones too.

Thanks Myg. I just looked at "La Villa."

Pretty impressive that they "moderned" it up after R30!

Wow. Thanks again. I'll be back there. :-D
