They sold out the people that gave them the majority back in '94. Conservatives are supposed to be about less entitlements, lower taxes, strong security, smaller government, less regulations, etc. This crowd did okay in the mid-to-late 90's but then they just got greedy. Hopefully this little spanking will wake them up.awip2062 wrote:Things didn't go as I wished in many races, but some things did.
I agree with Elf, the Republicans lost these seats by their own actions.
Glenn Beck made a point today that kind of made me shudder. The next two years will be all about positioning for the presidential elections. And guess what? Ten percent of the senate will be running for president!!! *runs away screaming*

Loving the drama here.....Allen's gonna concede soon.
On the downside, there'll be more useless catterwalling and delays in Congress.
On the plus side, it'll be the DEMS turn for Ged-ding slam-dunked.
and Elfie's right....where's all the bitching for recounts and voter disenfranchising?

I kept hearing right-wing pundits yelling, "You Demo-babies better not start screaming and crying VOTER FRAUD on the 8th!" Ok...we won't.
And as we've seen and heard since winning the House and Senate, no gloating, no revenge or any of those childish shenannigans (like spending millions to make the bad president look bad in an impeachment procedure. Bring back any memories?)
Just oversite, progress and working together in a bi-partisan manner. I wish that there was more of that in the last 6 years, but oh well.
The new majority of this country has spoken out loud. Let's just get 'er done.

I agree Owlie. Wise move on W's part to put a Dem in for SecDef as well.Big Blue Owl wrote:I kept hearing right-wing pundits yelling, "You Demo-babies better not start screaming and crying VOTER FRAUD on the 8th!" Ok...we won't.

Bipartisanship is good for the troops too.

I hope not. Who wants to waste time and money on things we already know and, at this point, can't do anything about. If all that crap is done it will take away from the real issues that face us.
After all, if there are a bunch of investigations and subpenises they won't have any affect until this admin is out of office anyway.
Gotta take the high road and fight the good fight! Lots of work to do!

I completely agree. But it'll happen as a function of positioning for the 2008 presidential run. Both parties will be doing a lot of positioning for that. That's my prediction anyway. I hope I'm SO wrong.Big Blue Owl wrote:I hope not. Who wants to waste time and money on things we already know and, at this point, can't do anything about. The next two years will be very educational, entertaining, and completely maddening at the same time.
