Some Tesla ATM

Yep, Tesla's cool, imho the debut album is nigh on perfect.

Seriously, I love the classics as much as the next guy but anything contemporary anyone? :-)

Getting off big time on the polyrhythmic madness of the latest Meshuggah album 'Obzen'.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KPz9XWm6iM Give it a few seconds of your time.

You have to check out Mastodon, the lead single off the new album reminds me of a early Maiden type vibe, great album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFhlMuvqKWQ :-)

I am currently listening to some of Ayreons the Human equation.

Contemporary enough? Human equation and 01011001 have been astounding albums, he gets better at this crap every time. (its rock opera with dialog style vocals if you don't know ogg)

he is currently doing a project with one of your beloved cactus rat tree's old drummer.

There is a video for 'Loser' in the download section, highly recommend that one, probably more your style too.

Also, Into the Black Hole has Bruce Dickinson on vocals.

I downloaded two from the site, 'Isolation' I just didnt get the first part, full of pomp, majesty and eurometal...then it turned towards a mellower vibe, like the female vocalsit...oh, some cool keyboards and guitar, reminding me of Dream Theatre overall. Not my cup of tea mate, sorry...but I did listen and comment.

Ok...I stand corrected...the Bruce Dickinson track is pretty cool I must admit. Still, a little too 'euro' for me...so says the englishman who listens to primarily american bands :-)
Do you have an opinion regarding Meshuggah or Mastodon?

Edit: Awesome! Watching the 'Loser' video :-D Celtic Euro Prog Rock, ruined by the vocals imho but no doubt a blast live...oh, and as far removed from my 'style' as physically possible :-)

Oh, regarding my 'beloved' Porcupine Tree...ask the main man my bro Hairy...he'll tell you all you need to know, you should have a good listen as I think you'd get into them Sir M :-)

Ok, I'll raise you a clip from the band 'OSI', cant find anything from the new album as yet but this is the title track from the last album 'Free' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPNYSg7of9g

http://www.osiband.com/ samples of the new album here

I know a lot about porcupine tree, I can handle them in small doses, I find them to be rather bland.

As for live, Ayreon can't really play live with his 10+ vocalists for albums, all borrowed, so that unfortunately doesn't happen. Lots of eurometal indeed, I am a american who listens to mostly european bands :P

Comparing bands to dream theater, odd you mention that, the "main character' for lack of better term as that album followed one person around, was the singer for DT, normally I hate DT but that album he did a good job, didn't sound like a whiny bitch. haha

Meshuggah I've heard some of, don't care for them. Mastadon very little.

As for the OSI , riffage takes a lot for me to get into or else it eats my head. I could easily have done without the Vox also. However to really listen to music I have to not listen to it at all and hear it randomly, otherwise I tend to be overcritical.

Because of Cyg reminding me, I'm listening to Manowar. This has always been one of my favorite songs. Reminds me of my father.

Defender

(Spoken)
When you are old enough to read these words
Their meaning will unfold
These words are all that's left
And though we've never met, my only son
I hope you know
That I would have been there to watch you grow
But my call was heard and I did go
Now your mission lies ahead of you
As it did my so long ago
To help the helpless ones who all look up to you
And to defend them to the end

Defender

Ride like the wind
Fight proud, my son
You're the defender
God has sent

Father,father,father
I look up to you and heed thy call

This letter ends my search
I'll live your dream now passed on to me
And I now wait to shake the hand of fate
Like the dusk awaiting dawn
So wizards cast your spell
With no heart to do me well
So it is written, it shall be

Defender

Ride like the wind
Fight proud, my son
You're the defender
God has sent

Yeah, but they still made your ears hurt, right? :P

They recently held the Guiness world record for loudest band, and I can
vouch for that.

Rock on Owlie. I KNEW there was another MOW fan out there. :headbang:

I've been a Ross the Boss fan since he was with Dick Manitoba and the
Dictators. They friggin' rocked, too.
