Sorry to post on topic :-D ....

it's quite interesting what this guy is saying. I can't really vouch for the religious angle as we in the UK seem to be a much more Godless lot than yourselves :)

What appears more relevant hear is the traditional spirit of Conservatism. I know a lot of people over here mistake this for being right wing (usually due to Thatcher) when this is not neccessarily the case at all.

The article almost harks back to the spirit of "noblesse oblige" when it was considered seemly by those with wealth to give to those less fortunate. it could also be linked to the fact that those of a leftward leaning disposition usually expect the Government to intervene far more, whereas the conservative viewpoint is one of personal responsibility.

I'm not really sure that religion neccessarily has that much to do with it, though as a dyed- in- the -wool atheist I may not be the best person to comment.....

Fridge! How could you! Taking the thread back on to topic is just...just.....

hehehe

As for atheism though, I see no reason why an atheist cannot comment on religion. Although you may not believe in a god, you DO have beliefs about spiritual things. So, speak on!

Fridge (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Fridge are an English post-rock band, comprising schoolfriends Kieran Hebden, Adem Ilhan, and Sam Jeffers. Initially Hebden played guitar, Ilhan bass and Jeffers drums, but Hebden and Ilhan soon adopted a variety of other instruments, and by 1999's Eph the sampler was playing an increasingly important role in the group's music.

In recent years Kieran Hebden has had a solo career under the name Four Tet while the other two attended college. In 2004 Adem Ilhan released a solo album, 'Homesongs', under the name Adem and another in 2006, 'Love and Other Planets'. As of 2005 the trio are working on a fifth album.

The three musicians have also worked on occasion as the backing band for Badly Drawn Boy, and remixed his single Another Pearl.
