Musical Instrument Digital Interface, an industry-standard interface used on electronic musical keyboards and PCs for computer control of musical instruments and devices.
Since I'm not a drummer, I often use midi drum tracks on solo recording projects. About the only other thing I ever use it for is to control one keyboard from another... or to control my digital piano module with my synthesizer's keyboard when performing with my band.

only problem is, it sucks for anything not appearing in your middle school orchestra. (minus the piano)
