Well, I commented to Ogg that they sounded a touch like they were inspired by Pink Floyd.

I definitely liked the song I got to play....The Sleep of no Dreaming.

Up the Downstair came and I listened to it. Yikes! It is gooooooooood! And happily it came with Staircase Infinities. Always Never is cool and I love Up the Downstair. I shall listen to it again and the second cd. I now have 4 cds already. :-D Thanks to my other half, The Devil's Advocate, for getting me into them.

I'll send more asap mate as I've found my mp3 versions the now. The most recent albums 'Deadwing' and 'In Absentia' are a good starting point...then work backwards like me.

Well its been six weeks solid PT and I still havent heard enough or listened to/scrutinised all the albums. There is such a wealth of material available one could easily gorge for years. Current 'find' is 'Recordings' from '01.

Porcupine Tree Recordings
(Boxset/Compilation, 2001)

Track listing
1. Buying New Soul (10:24)
2. Access Denied (3:35)
3. Cure For Optimism (6:11)
4. Untitled (8:53)
5. Disappear (3:37)
6. Ambulance Chasing (6:32)
7. In Formaldehyde (5:19)
8. Even Less (13:55)
9. Oceans Have No Memory (3:06)

A collection of b sides etc and a full fourteen minute version of 'Even Less' which is basically a more modern 'Floyd, perfection. The opening track 'Buying New Soul' is sublime and it's supposedly an out-take!

Porcupine Tree: Buying New Soul

Dried up, a guitar upon my knee
I should have sold out when the devil came for me
Dig a hole and throw it out to sea
Break the code, how happy I could be
I still wave at the dots on the shore
And I still beat my head against the door
I still rage and wage my little war
I'm a shade and easy to ignore
White wall, I had to paint a door
I always find that I've been through it before
Close it up and throw away the key
Break the code, how happy I could be
I woke up and I had a big idea
To buy a new soul at the start of every year
I paid up and it cost me pretty dear
Here's a hymn to those that disappear .

This is a link to the Devil's Advocate's website in his music section. He has a list of Porcupine Tree music he has collected. Just in case there are a few albums you didn't know were around. :-)

Yay! I do believe I now have the majority of PT's recorded works, more in a minute. After browsing DA's cool site I figured I still have the 'Four Chords' limited edition single to find but I have the song anyway.

I finally found the dts version of 'Deadwing' with the three bonus tracks (Ive heard theres a fourth hidden dts version of 'shemovedon'?) with 'revenant' 'half light' and the long awaited 'mother and child divided'. I've been after 'mother and child' for a while having been into the live version from the 'live at rockpalast' concert dvd.

Here's what I have so far: (no paticular order, reading from folder)

BBC Sessions
Coma Divine
In Absentia*
Lightbulb Sun
Metanoia
On the sunday of life
Recordings
Signify*
Stars Die-Delerium Years
Futile ep
Moonloop unedited ep
Staircase Infinities
Stupid Dream
Sky moves sideways
Up the Downstair
Voyage 34 complete trip
Warszawa
Deadwing*
XM transmisson 1:1
XM Transmission II
'Rockpalast' live dvd audio rip (by me)

Two PT boots
10/6/06 Holland
21/4/06 Germany

Dvd/Dvd-A
'Live at Rockpalast'05 concert dvd (tv transmission)
In Absentia dts
Deadwing dts

Blackfield
Bass Communion II
IEM

Opeth 'Damnation' (Steve Wilson produces and guests)

There is a Steve Wilson covers album available somewhere (a track aired on his 'my space' page)
that I'd love to find and a few others no doubt. All of these I have in mp3 with quite a few in the flac 1:1 lossless copy format. I own the few with the denoted *. I intend to buy them all. Still cant find a t-shirt anywhere though.
I think thats about it.

Did you get this version of Stupid Dream? It's supposed to have a lot more goodies and I know Dan gets these notices earlier than I do. It won't be released in the states until August. It was supposed to be this month but they changed the plan! ARRRGH! :x

Porcupine Tree are a fantastic band.

I fell in love with their last two albums "Deadwing" and "In Absentia".

The stand out tracks for me are :

Blackest Eyes
The Sound Of Muzak
Shallow
Lazarus
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here

I can't wait for the new DVD "Arriving Somewhere...." to be released.

Have you seen the video concert from the Rockpalast yet? It's brilliant.
