WE had a friend who would smoke up sturgeon and trout, I have never caught a sturgeon unfortunately, but have a friend who caught an 81 lber. They look like they would be quite the battle to catch
Snagging actually WAS legal (here) 'till the late 70's.

I'd LOVE to take a big sturgeon, but the slot limit is rediculous.

From what I've seen, 90% of those caught have to be released.

Not sure what the slot limit is here anymore. They change yearly it seems. I know my friend kept the 81, saw an 104 that came out of a nearby lake too. The 104 was from ice fishing, the 81 was caught from a boat in the river, not even off shore hitting holes. The pretty much had to beach it on the bank and such to get it into the boat.

Here in Indiana, if you get a Lake Sturgeon, you are not even supposed to bring it into the boat. if DNR catches you with one, you can get into big trouble.

Saw that on VS. channel. The guys had to JUMP IN to unhook it.

Rediculous.

This was sent by a man in Rhinelander, Wisconsin

A very eventful day around here... A once in many lifetimes
experience! I saw this lil' feller run out in front of a car--
thought it was a lost baby goat.

Stopped to get it, and WOW!! A real Albino Whitetail Deer...Just
hours old, but doing fine. No Momma deer around.

Another car nearly hit it in front of me ..

Well, he is THE neatest thing any of us ever saw. And such a 'freak
of nature', that only 1 in more than a million are even born. He took
his bottle of food, followed us around the house, doing great.

So, we called the Zoo & Fossil Rim, who were both interested, but
we're going to send him to a Rehab farm. Maybe he will make it in
captivity somewhere and be appreciated.

So rare... Sure wanted to keep him tho, but not the thing to do.

(And not LEGAL either - Cyg)

Here are a couple of pictures to show you:

He has snow-white pink eyes, ears, nose and hooves. Kids called him
"POWDER." He was SO small. That is my shoe lying beside him...

WOW..how cool is that?? Nice of him to share those pics, huh? -Cyg

Cyg, I know you won't see it so here is the Readers Digest Condensed Version...

A kid next to a shot and hanging Buck.

The caption is........Independent, November1, 2007, Page 9

*******************'PIC'******************

Tyler Cannon shit this 8-point buck on Oct, 29, 2007, in Burnet County. (Courtesy photo)
She sent it to me earlier and yes, it's both a proud AND embarrassing moment for the youngster AND the idiot who wrote the caption.

thanks for the cyber-braille though Hairy! \m/ \m/

(thanks from me too Kares.) :headbang:
Thanks for putting up the pic, Hairy.

Ya I got this in e-mail yestidday and felt I just HAD to share. LOL. :-D

My Dad used to hunt deer and some kind of game birds (still have "Edward's" head in his den, pelt and his legs are a lamp and ashtray--weird) and still fishes with my brother.

I don't fish that much but did catch a nice big bass on the Percy Priest in Nashville a few years ago on my brother's bass boat (MAN that thing can WAIL). I have a pic of me holding it by the mouth and sticking my tongue right back out at it but I don't remember if it's digi or not.

Freeze this moment a little bit longer...

Great thread Hairy! 8)
I do both Memorial day I am going deep sea fishing for Cod, Haddock, Pollack, and their is Hailbut in the area we are going along with wolf fish and a few other species. I will take some pictures and share with you all. I am really looking forward to this over night trip way way out. :D This fall I am getting back into deer hunting, I have killed many deer and you just don't get any better meat and of course some game birds to but I don't go Turkey hunting. I do see alot around this time of the year and in the fall when they come out in the open fields and gather up for breeding.
I make some really good eats with my wild friends. :-) You'll see me in this thread often gaurding it for any high jackers.

We really like Venison and Elk here. Buffalo is alright, but I like beef better. Wild turkey is good too. Still want to try bear meat.

(note to t, not your Bear meat, k.)

Oh smoked salmon rocks. But I have never caught one of them. :P

Depends on the diet of the bear. If it eats berries and fish it is good. If it is a dumpster diver, then no.

still supposed to be very fatty overall, greasy meat that can be a bit much for some folks digestive tracks.
