Until this incident he did nothing in the last 30 years of his career that could be considered rude or perverted.
He has delivered a heart-felt apology, Pales accepted that, but ended up misquoting the Constitution and the First Amendment while trying to make political hay of the apology. Hey Betty Boop, the first amendment says nothing about statements made on TV. It protects Letterman in this instance, not you. She also, for some blithering reason, invoked the troops whilst showing her lack of grace when "accepting" the apology.

Not actually a misquote, just a complete misinterpretation of the first amendment of the Constitution.
While it is slanderous to publicly say that someone is a pervert when he/she isn't, she now says that it was Letterman's "right" to tell that joke. Wha?!?!?!
In a statement, Pales says she accepts Letterman?s apology ?on behalf of young women like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.?
"Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, you betcha, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction,? Palin continued in the statement. ?And this is all thanks to our U.S. military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's right to free speech ? in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."
She is always good for a laugh. And as Soupy says, cute in a few ways.
But, ugh. What a dummy.
Sorry, is that rude?

It's still a free country...I think....but yeah, go ahead and slam her.
Damn, even the feministas left her treading water.
That's a double standard.
As far as Letterman goes....That's straight up bullshit, Soup.
Y'all would be calling Letterman everything but a white man if he said
it about any of YOUR daughters.
Letterman's lucky he doesn't get fired.
(Imus got fired for "nicer" things than Letterman, but that is 100% relative.)
Guess what - That's a double standard too.
Letterman's a gap-toothed asswipe anyway, but at least he got the
apology right the second time around.
It's good to know that even though he's a liberal, Palin-hatin' grenade-thrower,
he still has a concience.
And, in the sake of fairness, didn't A-Rod get thrown under the bus too?
Last I looked, he got dissed as much as Willow did - but A-Rod is an adult,
and, as such, can punch Letterman in the throat any time he wants.

My daughters would never be paraded on stages in front of the public for the promotion and publicity of me. And if they were I would have to apologize to them and myself when comedians and talkshow hosts spoke of them (good or bad) on their programs.Y'all would be calling Letterman everything but a white man if he said it about any of YOUR daughters.
"I'm sorry I opened you up to this kind of thing, dearies. Mommy forgot that it is a raw, tough, real world out there and not a magical roundabout where sugarplum fairies throw rose petals from baskets and never a discouraging word is uttered."
Pales, feel free to use that.
oh I'm with ya - Even though you're talking about YOUR daughter, you'reBig Blue Owl wrote: My daughters would never be paraded on stages in front of the public for the promotion and publicity of me.
still referencing the Palins....
But, it was okay for the Obamas and Bidens to do it.
Right on.
(See, there's that annoying double standard again)
...and yes Owlie...you, yours truly, Soup (and anyone else) would bury
our collective feet in Letterman's ass if he said it about our daughters.
You're just in denial.
Besides, Letterman probably got a nasty phone call from Mr. Palin. I
seriously doubt that Letterman would want any of him.
And dad's a little pissed about the whole thing anyway, so Letterman did
the right thing, and that's the bottom line.
(Too bad he waited so long, but that's another debate.)
Don't start none...won't be none.

Could the fact that there hasn't been a verbal comedic tyrade over the Obama girls say something about how most of our society perceives them as opposed to the Palins? Even badly, Palin jokes seem to flow, but I can't think of a bad thing (that isn't racist) about the Obama girls to make fun of (bearing in mind that I don't think that making fun of innocent children in a public forum funny or fun, and I think Dave was wrong to do it, so I totally get where you're coming from Cygman.)
I don't think Dave is worried about Mr. Palin. He could have his junky ass dusted off with a whisper, I'm sure.

Why yes! My hat's off to you for noticing that, too!Big Blue Owl wrote:Could the fact that there hasn't been a verbal comedic tyrade over the Obama girls say something about how most of our society perceives them as opposed to the Palins?
It speaks volumes, and there are three words for this phenomena:
Mainstream Media Bias.
Oh it's true....it's damn true. LOL
Rock on Owlie. I know you always keep it real. I'm just trying to break
through to anyone that will agree that something not-so-cool is going on
here.

Hahaha, yeah I'm fullashit! I've been waiting 4 years to use that word.
And thanks for the good wishes, man. Things are progressing naturally over here. Got past the anxiety and stress. Moving on toward (hopefully) bigger and better things. Ha! See? I AM fullashit!
