It's Official, Bear's Made His Choice
Moderator: Priests of Syrinx
Just got a call from Bear. He is done with basic, and is staying on for his Airborne training. He spent this week doing GFT (ground fighting tactics), and room entry and urban warfare. Dude is having the time of his life!
He informs me that he has finally mastered the art of eating fast! lol
Go Bear!!!

speed eating!!! a fork in one hand and a spoon in the other.. I remember standing in line to drop our trays off and still shoveling it in.
"CHEW IT NOW TASTE IT LATER!"
(My sister heard that when she was in basic training)
^^^^ Yep, that is how it is. Correct on both parts. Oh the memories.
This space for rent
Ahhhh yeah....speedeating....I remember it well.
I remember the okra....it tasted as bad coming up as it did going down!
Congrats Bear! That was a "life moment!"
Now you - as most of us Vets - will be the LAST one up from the dinner
table when you come home!
Twenty years later - and I'm STILL the last one up from the table.
(It's the result of SPEEDEATING!) LOL
Rock on Bear, and thank you for your service to our country.

Don't start none...won't be none.
Nine days from today I leave Sea-Tc for Georgia to see my boy graduate. He has his Turning Blue ceremony in ten days and then graduation in 11, after which time I get to bring him HOME!!!!
I have to tell you about this miracle in our lives! I had made flight reservations for myself to come home from seeing him graduate and then weeks later Bear asked me to make reservations for him to come home on the same day, and he said he understood he would not likely be on the same plane.
Well, he is on the same plane!
Not only that! He is SITTING IN THE SEAT RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!! How cool is that?!??!! There we five or six seats left on the flight and one was on my right hand! I am SO stoked!
I am a bit concerned about one thing, though. I am going to cry, I just know I am going to cry, at his Turning Blue and Graduation. I am not so worried about it at Graduation, but I am going to be the one to attach the blue Infantry Cord to his uniform and so that means I will be crying in front of him. I think he will understand, but still...
Hey, Leon, you graduated infantry at Fort Benning. Whyn't you fly down and pin it on him? Truthfully, part of me sees that as appropriate with who you are to our family and your history at Benning, but, really, I want to have the honor as his mother and in honor of his grandmother who so so so greatly encouraged him toward serving in the Army and all the others in our family who served, including his dad.
