It is said that we may be able to see earthshine tomorrow (Monday the 1st of December)!
*hoping for no cloud cover as she sits in a nice thick fog lol*

Um, pardon my ignorance, but what is earthshine, and how will I know when I see it?

On certain nights when the angles are right (be quiet) sunlight is reflected from Earth and faintly illuminates the part of the moon on which the sun is not shining.
Here's an animated diagram.

There it is again! Now just thinking of the word, "Earthshine" does it!

Yeah, and both "Earthshine" and "Planetshine" make sense. The first because the Earth is shining on the moon and the second because it can be any planet that shines this way.
Right now it isn't looking good for me to see it, though. Fog, fog, fog and a call for precipitation.

No Earthsine tonight here, unless we play the song. The fog stayed and now it's rainin' to boot!

Yes, but whose fault is it that you knew the song to begin with?
