It was pointed out to me that a friend in Belgium cannot view the Bush site. When he goes to www.georgewbush.com, he geds this error:
You are not authorized to view this page.HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
Hunh? I can access it, but apparently many in Europe can't.
Can any By-torian in Europe access it?
And does anyone know why many cannot? It doesn't make sense to me.

It timed out on me as well. I suspect that it's just getting so many hits that it's looking like it's shut down. Or maybe they're under a denial of service attack. I remember when I worked for an ISP that used to happen to us regularly (probably because I worked there).

They're allowing/denying access based on IP. Mostly, it's just blocking IP's outside of the US, but the IP databases are inaccurate to say the least, and if you're with a big ISP (AOL, MSN, etc.) you may be going thru a proxy which has it's IP listed owned by a country outside the US.

Security reasons from what I read. It seems that the site was getting hit with numerous attacks from overseas (Asia mainly), so to keep it up and running, they just tried to firewall off those outside the US.
